Salt Lake City, UT—John Dehlin (an unbiased expert on Book of Mormon History) has put forward a new theory suggesting that, The Last of the Mohicans directly inspired Joseph Smith to create the Book of Mormon.
“The two stories are so similar that Joseph Smith should have just named his book, The Last of the Nephites,” said Dehlin. The most obvious proof of plagiarism that Dehlin points to is the similar struggle between cowboys and Indians in both books. Another proof is that The Last of the Mohicans was published in 1825. Just 5 years before the publication of the Book of Mormon!
There have been theories put out by various scholars suggesting Joseph Smith plagiarized other books to create the Book of Mormon. Some of these books include The Princess Bride, Pride and Prejudice, and The Lion King.
